2015 Horse Heaven Hills Cabernet

59% Discovery Cabernet Sauvignon
29% Champoux Cabernet Sauvignon
8% Klipsun Merlot
4% Champoux Cabernet Franc

Aged 21 months in 80% new French oak

 The Wine Advocate, June 2017

"What I suspect will be one of the wines of the vintage, the deep purple colored 2015 Horse Heaven Hills Cabernet Sauvignon offers sensational aromatics (cassis, crushed rocks, dark chocolate and lead pencil), full-bodied richness and a layered, multi-dimensional, stunningly pure profile. This beauty has nothing out of place, beautiful concentration, ripe, sweet tannin and blockbuster length. Count me as a fan."

-Jeb Dunnuck

Winemaker Chris Peterson's tasting note—Complex and deep aromas of black currant, blackberry, blueberry, crushed violets, freshly ground Ethiopan coffee, mocha, and damp earth notes. This wine features a palate-coating texture, dense with blackberry, blueberry, cassis, dark chocolate, and liquid minerals. Rich and approachable, yet fierce in structure, the ultimate “iron fist in a velvet glove.” Long, full opulent finish. Great power and poise. Give it 2-3 years in the cellar, and drink it over the next twenty years, at least.

2015 Red Mountain Cabernet

97% Klipsun Cabernet Sauvignon
3% Bacchus Cabernet Franc

Aged 21 months in 87% new French oak

The Wine Advocate, June 2017

Coming mostly from the Klipsun vineyard on Red Mountain, with a splash of Cabernet Franc from Bacchus Vineyard (this is Columbia Valley), the 2015 Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon offers classic Cabernet notes of leafy herbs, blackcurrants, graphite and cedary spice. With full-bodied richness, a voluptuous, rounded, sexy texture, no hard edges and a killer finish, it’s one seriously good barrel sample that’s going to drink nicely for two decades or more.

-Jeb Dunnuck

Winemaker Chris Peterson's tasting note—Evocative nose with crème de cassis, Damson plum, violet, crushed rock, dried roses, and espresso. The palate has a silky, creamy texture featuring dark red fruits, bittersweet chocolate, and graphite. Power and elegance harmonize on the palate and through the finish. This wine stays refined even as it is large scaled and built for the long term. A two to three year wait is great for a start, but this wine will last 15-20 years easily.

2015 Walla Walla Valley Cabernet

64% Seven Hills Cabernet Sauvignon
36% Pepper Bridge Cabernet Sauvignon

Aged 20 months in 60% new French oak

The Wine Advocate, June 2017

Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from a mix of Seven Hills and Pepper Bridge vineyards, the 2015 Walla Walla Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is backwards and brooding, with deep, black fruits, tobacco and graphite aromatics, full-bodied richness, a structured, concentrated profile and terrific length. The tannin is ripe and polished, but there’s enough to warrant short term cellaring. As with all three AVA Cabernets, it’s a sensational looking barrel sample that I can’t wait to taste from bottle.

-Jeb Dunnuck

Winemaker Chris Peterson's tasting note—Our first wine to feature 100% Cabernet, the 2015 Walla Walla Valley Cabernet is truly a beast. Black cherry, plum, bittersweet chocolate, and baking spices on the nose. Broad shouldered and firm in structure, with dark red and black fruits, winter mint, tarragon, deep cocoa, and mountain flowers. This is a chewy and substantial Cabernet that should last for decades.
