Passing Time Winery

2014 Horse Heaven Hills Cabernet Sauvignon

Wine Advocate Review June 2016
Rating (95-97)

"The finest wine I've tasted from [Winemaker], Chris [Peterson], the jaw-droppingly good 2014 Horse Heaven Hills Cabernet Sauvignon got a big "wow" in the notes and was easily my favorite of the new releases under the Passing Time label. Black raspberries, currants, creme de cassis, smoked earth and mineral all flow from this black/blue colored, full-bodied, concentrated, yet thrillingly fresh and elegant Cabernet. Let's just hope it shows this well from bottle!"

2014 Horse Heaven Hills Cabernet (400 Cases Produced)

43%  |  Discovery Cabernet Sauvignon

43%  |  Champoux Cabernet Sauvignon

9%   |   Klipsun Merlot

5%   |   Champoux Cabernet Franc

Aged 20 months in 80% new French oak

This is the most sensual wine of the three Cabernets. A wide assortment of wild berries, red and black cassis, blackberry, designer chocolate dustings, and Madagascar vanilla bean waft from the glass. The palate is silky, ultra-complex, and very concentrated with blueberry compote, cassis, grilled bread, espresso, jasmine and violet notes that evolve on the rich palate with each taste. A blockbuster of a wine that will reward many years in the cellar, though it is tempting now.
