This great Merlot site delivers again, with a nose of red plum, black cherry brandy, lavender, and rich milk chocolate. The palate is plush and hedonistic, tasting of plums, mulberries, mocha, and crushed herbs. This is showing great now and will cellar nicely for a decade and more.
Blend: 100% Merlot
Appellation: Horse Heaven Hills
Vineyard: 100% Champoux Vineyard
Aging: 50% New French oak for 20 months
"Coming from this famed site in the Horse Heaven Hills, the 2020 ‘Champoux Vineyard’ Merlot was stored in 50% new French oak for 20 months before bottling. The nose is rich and decadent with roasted dates, cigar ash, black currants and chocolate covered black cherry. The palate is soft and smooth with a velvety texture and good length. This is very clean, with great length and underlying salty finesse. Enjoy this beauty now and over the next fifteen years. Drink 2022-2036"
"The 2020 Passing Time Merlot displays a medium to dark ruby core with a silvery rim in the glass and expresses notes of red cherry, blueberry, boysenberry, crushed pink peppercorn, pencil shavings, dark chocolate shavings, cedary herbs, toasted vanilla bean, and just a smooch of jalapeno. Elevated acidity and rounded sweet tannins help create a focused wine of presence and place that finishes long and fruit-forward with a hint of peppery herbs on the mid-palate."
